Our client is a leading global manufacturer, distributor and service provider of medical devices including disposal medical supplies, monitoring equipment, medical instruments and pharmaceuticals. They are now looking to hire a Deputy General Counsel for their Asia Pacific operations to be based in Singapore.

Reporting to and supporting General Counsel in the management of the Asia Pacific Law Department, you will be responsible for providing legal counsel, assistance, and general business advice to the client’s businesses in the Asia Pacific region. You will regularly interact with and consult the company’s Asia Pacific Sales, Finance, Marketing, Logistics, Procurement, HR, Tax, Treasury, Audit and Senior Management in the regional corporate office in Singapore and with Senior Management in other countries in the region.

Your key duties and responsibilities will include drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, agreements and preparing legal responses to tenders; litigation management; managing all employment related matters; corporate governance; training internal and external persons on compliance issues including international trade, FCPA and related anti-bribery laws, consumer protection, trade practices (including anti-trust) laws and company policies; managing all compliance related investigations; managing mergers and acquisitions activities; managing intellectual property; managing external counsel effectively; supervising and mentoring junior counsel; assisting in the development and improvement of business and compliance processes and acting as deputy to General Counsel and as acting General Counsel as and when necessary.

You will have at least 15 years PQE with cross-border corporate and commercial transactions; excellent legal academic credentials with major law firm training; experience working in an international organization and dealings with the Asia Pacific business environment and culture. Prior experience in the medical products industry would be an advantage. Fluency in written and spoken English is a must. Asian language ability would be an advantage.
