Our client is a leading producer, publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment products worldwide with offices in 26 countries and sales in more than 55 countries around the globe. They are now looking for Legal Counsel for their Singapore office with experience in online/ecommerce matters.
DESCRIPTION
You will provide legal support to online activity in collaboration with business units and functions as well as game development studios. You will perform analysis of Asia Pacific/ Singapore policies and advise on the application of European policies regarding online gaming. Contribute to the development and implementation of the legal framework for online activities.
Based in Singapore, the Legal Counsel is responsible for:
- Drafting and optimizing the legal framework linked to the use and life length of ‘in-game’ virtual currency and to virtual and real currency transactions (relevant laws and tax impacts).
- Drafting and updating terms of use.
- Ensuring personal data protection and compliance with relevant policies, regulations and laws.
- Providing legal support to the business units and functions and game development studios in connection with online games on new platforms and distribution models (free to play, Facebook, MMO, mobile).
- Coordinating litigation and management of dispute resolution with outside counsel if necessary specifically related to online matters.
- Active in the development of the legal function and internal processes.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate with US Juris Doctor (JD) degree will have an advantage but more importantly is that you have at least three years of substantive experience handling similar issues. This position requires excellent negotiation skills and written-verbal communication skills. you must have very good team working ability and information sharing, ability to think strategically and creatively.
